Mission Statement – Improve South Brevard communities by leveraging political, educational, environmental, and economic resources. We aim to facilitate the concerns of South Brevard’s residents through the Concerned Citizens Committee, working collaboratively with local officials to address issues and implement community safety improvements for enhanced infrastructure.
Vision Statement – Identify areas for improvement in South Brevard neighborhoods and work alongside community partners to enhance the overall infrastructure.

The recorded history of the South Brevard community begins in the early 80’s, when the leadership of South Melbourne fell under the South Brevard County Civic League. This organization partnered with municipal representatives to enhance residential conditions and promote community safety improvements within South Melbourne. Their legacy includes the establishment of the Stone Middle School Library, which also served as the South Melbourne Community Library.
Twelve years later, community leaders such as Bennie Hopkins, Peter Frink, Clara Smith, Charles Jackson, and Joseph McNeil, Jr. renamed the South Brevard County Civic League to the Concerned Citizens Committee of South Brevard. In 2008, the Committee elected Joseph McNeil, Jr. as President, Charles Jackson as Vice President, Clara Smith as Secretary, and Patricia Kelly as Treasurer. Since its inception, the Concerned Citizens Committee has evolved into a dynamic and influential organization, driving community safety improvements and enhancing residential life within South Melbourne.
