Joseph McNeil, a visionary founder since 2008 and a dedicated community leader since the 1960s, has been instrumental in community advocacy through his work with the Concerned Citizens Committee and South Brevard leadership.

Marcus Smith, a member of the South Brevard leadership, serves as a Melbourne City Councilman and is also a board member of Neighbor Up. Additionally, he is the founder of Men in the Kommunity, actively participating in community advocacy through the Concerned Citizens Committee.

Tyrone Bryan, a faith-based leader and behavioral health consultant, is dedicated to community advocacy and serves as a professional youth advocate. He is actively involved with the Concerned Citizens Committee and is recognized for his contributions to South Brevard leadership.

Committee & Special Focus Groups

Youth Leadership Committee

Youth Leadership - Group Leader Tyrone Bryan provides a robust mentorship service for young people that emphasizes community advocacy. Utilizing a strength-based approach and the wraparound principles of systems of care, this program offers holistic and individualized support. It focuses on enhancing each youth's existing strengths, coordinates resources across family, school, and community systems, and fosters empowering spaces where young people can thrive academically, socially, and personally. This initiative aligns with the goals of the Concerned Citizens Committee and promotes South Brevard leadership by cultivating the next generation of leaders.

Education Committee

Education - Group Leader Bernard Bryan. As part of our community advocacy efforts, we aim to promote the goals and objectives of the Brevard County School Board, particularly in underserved communities, aligning with the objectives of the Concerned Citizens Committee of South Brevard Inc. and fostering South Brevard leadership.

Civic Engagement Committee

Voter Advocacy - Group Leader Joseph McNeil, Jr. To collaborate with community partners, including the South Brevard Branch NAACP, Push Back Alliance Coalition, and Martin Luther King Coalition, as part of the Concerned Citizens Committee to lobby for candidates who will enhance community advocacy and promote the well-being of the larger community under South Brevard leadership.

Community Health & Safety Committee

Health Advocacy - Group Leader Sheila Shields - To enhance health awareness among the residents of South Brevard, the Concerned Citizens Committee, along with other community organizations, aims to address the health disparities and concerns within the community through effective community advocacy.

Special Projects Committee

Founders Monument - Group Leader, Darlene Brummell - Install a monument to commemorate the legacy of the three freed slaves who founded Crane Creek, later renamed Melbourne, as part of the community advocacy efforts by the Concerned Citizens Committee and South Brevard leadership.

Community Development Committee

Community Development - Group Leader Marcus Smith - To bring about change to the historic community through community advocacy, engaging in the revitalization of the Old South Melbourne Business District. This initiative aims to upgrade the infrastructure while preserving historic landmarks, supported by the Concerned Citizens Committee and South Brevard leadership.
